Renewable Energy Marketers Association

3Degrees is a founding member of the Renewable Energy Marketers Association (REMA). The mission of REMA is to promote the core values of the voluntary market for renewable energy, namely that consumers can make a difference with their purchase – the more renewable energy is produced the more greenhouse gases (GHGs) are reduced as a result of these voluntary purchases. Under future GHG cap-and-trade legislation REMA advocates policies that will retire GHG allowances commensurate with the voluntary purchase of RECs and other forms of renewable energy. Customers voluntarily purchasing RECs do so in large part to offset their energy-related contributions to climate change.  Retiring GHG allowances ensures that these customers receive the value for which they are paying and helps the nation exceed future GHG regulations, further reducing the energy sector’s contributions to climate change.
