About Green-e Energy

Green-e® Energy is a voluntary certification program that sets buyer protection and environmental standards for renewable electricity products.

Green-e Energy is the most stringent and widely used voluntary Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) certification and verification program in the U.S.

In 2010, Green-e Energy certified retail sales of nearly 24 million megawatt-hours of renewable electricity and RECs. Green-e Energy also verified that Green-e Energy Certified products meet certain quality standards and offer incremental environmental benefits.

In 2010, Green-e Energy certified retail sales of over 24 million megawatt-hours of renewable electricity and RECs.

Green-e Energy does for the renewable energy market what the USDA Organic food label does for the organic food market and what the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) ecolabel does for fish products. When you see the Green-e Energy logo you know the product is subject to a robust audit each year that accounts for every last megawatt-hour of RECs sold, who sold them, who purchased them, and where the RECs were generated so there is no doubt where they came from and who owns them.

Green-e Energy certification protects buyers from fraud and double counting. Such a protocol of auditing and monitoring is resource intensive, and Green-e charges a fee for its services to resellers. 3Degrees offers Green-e Energy Certified products to organizations and supports Green-e Energy in its role of providing assurance to renewable energy buyers and the public.
