U.S. Wind RECs
Demonstrate your support for wind power by matching your electricity use with renewable energy generated by U.S. wind farms
Turning Wind Power Into Green Power
In the United States, wind farms generate electricity and something else—Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Each of these RECs represents one megawatt-hour of renewable electricity delivered to the power grid by the wind farm.
Organizations that match their electricity usage with U.S. Wind RECs increase demand for wind power, encouraging the development of new wind farms
Wind farm owners sell the RECs generated by their projects, providing them with income that is additional to the revenues they secure from the projects’ electricity. This additional revenue makes their wind farms more economically competitive with traditional energy projects that consume fossil fuels and emit greenhouse gases.
By matching your electricity usage with an equal number of 3Degrees’ U.S. Wind RECs, you help increase demand for wind-generated electricity in the United States.
Rising demand and support for wind power, in turn, encourages wind farm construction, accelerating the world's transition to a low-carbon, renewable energy economy.
3Degrees U.S. Wind RECs:
- Have been third-party verified by Green-e® Energy to meet their environmental and consumer protection standards
- Represent the environmental benefits of renewable energy generated by wind projects that have gone online on or after January 1, 1999
- Are delivered with an attestation that names the specific wind farms from which the RECs were sourced
