There are many things you can do each and every day to fight climate change.
Here are 5 places to start:
- Use energy efficient compact fluorescent (CFL) light bulbs. If every American home swapped just five incandescent bulb fixtures for Energy Star CFLs, it would keep 1 trillion pounds of greenhouse gases out of the air and save $6.5 billion in energy costs.
- Carpool or bike to work.
- Buy Energy Star-rated appliances and heating/cooling equipment.
- Unplug un-used electronics. Even when electronic devices are turned off, they use energy, called “phantom load.” Save over 1,000 lbs of carbon dioxide and $256 per year.
