Santa Clara, Palo Alto in top 5 of nation's "Green Power" communities

Santa Clara gets the #2 spot

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency named the cities of Santa Clara and Palo Alto "Green Power" communities.

Santa Clara ranks as the second largest Green Power Community, both in terms of population and size of its green power commitment -- 57 million kilowatt-hours annually.

Palo Alto came in at No. 5, with about 36 million kilowatt-hours. Bellingham, Wash. topped the list.

Together, the 14 communities on the EPA's list purchase nearly 300 million kilowatt-hours of green power annually.
