Inc. Magazine Names 3Degrees to the 2011 Inc. 500|5000 with Three-Year Sales Growth of 119 Percent
Firm Creates and Meets Growing Demand for Renewable Energy and Carbon Offsets
San Francisco, Aug. 24, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Inc. magazine has ranked 3Degrees number 2,118 on its fifth annual Inc. 500|5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. 3Degrees joins Spirit Airlines, television maker Vizio, Honest Tea, and Dunkin Donuts among other prominent brands featured on this year’s list. This is the second year in a row that 3Degrees has been named to the Inc. 500|5000.
"3Degrees has grown its business in a difficult economic environment thanks to our team’s constant focus on delivering intelligent, efficient and reliable environmental market services to businesses, electricity providers, project owners, LEED green building professionals and other partners," said Dan Kalafatas, CEO of 3Degrees. "With these partners’ support, 3Degrees is realizing its mission of accelerating the low-carbon, renewable energy economy."
A Leader in the Green Power Industry
The Inc. 500|5000 ranking further strengthens 3Degrees’ position as the partner of choice for organizations seeking to use Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and carbon offsets to mitigate their climate change impact, comply with government renewable energy mandates, launch successful utility green power programs, and secure additional revenue for their renewable energy or greenhouse gas emission reduction projects.
Its industry leadership is demonstrated by the fact that 3Degrees:
- Provides renewable energy to four of the top five Fortune 500 EPA Green Power Partners
- Is ranked the number 1 REC Trading Company in North America by Environmental Finance Magazine
- Has been recognized with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Non-Utility Green Power Supplier of the Year award for four consecutive years
- Has helped four of its utility partners -- City of Palo Alto Utilities, Silicon Valley Power, Puget Sound Energy, and PacifiCorp -- secure places on the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) Top 10 list of green power programs
3Degrees’ green power industry leadership is making an impact. In 2010, 3Degrees’ partners helped support 222 renewable energy facilities, including 76 wind farms and over 100 solar power facilities. In addition, over 75 percent of the RECs 3Degrees delivered to its customers in 2010 were sourced from renewable energy facilities that began operation on or after January 1, 2005.
