3Degrees Voted #1 REC Trader in North America
San Francisco — December 18, 2013 — Environmental Finance, the leading global publication covering environmental markets, has named 3Degrees Best Trading Company, Renewable Energy Certificates, North America in its 14th Annual Market Rankings.
The Rankings are the largest and most closely watched poll of sentiment across the carbon, renewable energy certificates (REC), weather risk and catastrophe risk markets. They are based on more than 1,000 votes cast by readers and other participants in the markets that Environmental Finance covers.
“Many of the winning firms have proved themselves adept at navigating a complex and rapidly changing policy landscape, and dealing with volatility,” said Peter Cripps, editor of Environmental Finance.
Firms were not allowed to vote for themselves, but the winners received votes from clients and peers who judged that they had provided the best service over the past 12 months.
“One of our greatest strengths is making meaningful connections between our customers and the renewable energy projects they are supporting,” said 3Degrees President Steve McDougal. "It's rewarding to know that our clients and partners recognize the quality and value of these connections."
REC Market Leadership
3Degrees’ top ranking in the Environmental Finance survey is a result of providing utilities, green building firms, businesses, and other organizations with high-quality green power products from renewable energy projects that range from large-scale wind farms to innovative independent energy makers.
Last year, 3Degrees increased its voluntary REC deliveries, providing its customers with over 8 billion kilowatt-hours from more than 400 renewable energy facilities, including RECs from the nation’s first grid-tied tidal power facility in Maine.
Together with its 12 utility partners, 3Degrees operates some of the nation’s leading green pricing programs, serving over 170,000 green power customers across the nation. 3Degrees’ green power programs are ranked on every NREL Green Power Leader Top 10 list for 2012 and reach nearly 25 million people across 16 states. 3Degrees worked with local governments in Mercer Island, Washington, and Creve Coeur, Missouri, to issue green power challenges, resulting in both communities becoming EPA Green Power Communities.
The mission of 3Degrees is to connect people with renewable energy on a massive scale.
The company realizes this mission by partnering with utilities to offer green power options to 25 million customers and providing renewable energy certificates and carbon offsets to Fortune 500® companies, green building firms, utilities, and other organizations committed to sustainability.
