3Degrees Recognized with U.S. Department of Energy Green Power Leadership Award for Fifth Straight Year
Five-Time Non-Utility Green Power Supplier of the Year Leads Industry in Building and Meeting Demand for Renewable Energy
SAN FRANCISCO, November 16, 2011 — At a ceremony today at the 2011 Renewable Energy Markets Conference, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) presented 3Degrees with the 2011 Green Power Leadership Award for Non-Utility Green Power Supplier of the Year.
This is the fifth year in a row that 3Degrees has received the honor, which is awarded by the DOE to companies that have demonstrated exceptional achievement over the past year in helping build and meet demand for renewable energy through market-based mechanisms. 3Degrees has received the DOE’s Green Power Leadership Award every year since the company was founded in 2007.
“Having now been named Non-Utility Green Power Supplier of the Year for the fifth straight year, my primary reaction is one of gratitude,” said Dan Kalafatas, CEO of 3Degrees. “Gratitude to all of the people, on the 3Degrees team and throughout the industry, whose commitment to renewable energy has helped build the green power market into what it is today.”

About the Award
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) co-sponsors the Green Power Leadership Awards with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS). Each organization recognized has helped advance the development of the Nation's green power markets through the creation of successful green power programs. The goal of green power programs is to provide market-based choices for electricity consumers to purchase power from environmentally preferred sources.
For the 2011 Green Power Leadership Awards, three separate panels of judges reviewed over 100 nominations. Nominees in DOE’s supplier category were evaluated based upon the resources and technologies utilized, total annual renewable energy sales, number of customers served, market impact, amount of green power supplied, and overall value provided to participants.
