Muling Daimagou & Ganmianshi Wind Farm

Project Location: Heilongjiang Province, North Eastern China
Commercial On-line Date (COD): February 2007
Total Capacity: 59.5 Megawatts
Annual Energy Production: 130,000 Megawatt Hours

Project site:

  • Muling City has an abundant wind resource, so it is ideal for large-scale  wind energy development. Muling plans to install a total of 70 Vestas wind turbines each with a power  output of 850 kW to best suit the conditions. The project will improve air quality and local livelihoods.

Additionality:

  • This project directly increases the amount of clean renewable energy in a coal intensive developing nation where the practice of building renewable energy facilities is not ‘business as usual’.
  • The project reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) by substituting fossil fuel generated electricity.
  • The project has been verified using the CDM “Tool for the demonstration and assessment of additionality”.

Co-Benefits:

  • This project will help to stimulate the growth of the wind power industry in China, and to assist China in the commercialization of renewable energy technologies and markets—an important objective of the Chinese government.
  • The project will improve air quality and local livelihoods.
  • This project will help to create local employment opportunities for the assembly, installation, and operation of the wind turbines.

Emissions Reduction Calculation:

This project aids in emissions reductions by displacing fossil fuel fired power plants that would otherwise have delivered the electricity to the Western Region Grid in China.

Emissions Reduction Verification:

The Verified Emissions Reductions (VERs) are (cut: certified) verified using the ACM0002 standard developed by the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) as established by the Kyoto Protocol and will be registered with the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS).
