Christopher directs 3Degrees' financial planning and reporting, including budgeting and projections, while also managing the firm’s treasury and auditing activities. In addition, Christopher supervises the firm’s capital investments in technology, development and enforcement of operational and financial controls, and management of credit and operational risks.

Christopher joined 3Degrees upon its founding in 2007. In his first role, at 3Degrees Christopher served as a manager in the Origination and Trading group, where he developed and executed environmental commodity trading strategies for Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and verified carbon offsets. His responsibilities included day-to-day management of environmental commodity portfolios, development of trading relationships with utilities, Load-Serving Entities (LSEs), project owners, and other environmental market participants, and identification of new opportunities in the REC and carbon offset markets.

Before joining 3Degrees, Christopher worked as a business analyst at New Leaf Paper, a sustainable paper distribution company, from 2004 to 2007. At New Leaf Paper, Christopher was responsible for financial reporting and closing activities, inventory reconciliation, cash management and order processing and logistics optimization. In addition, Christopher performed detailed pricing analysis of New Leaf Paper’s products and used this analysis to create a custom pricing tool for the sales and operations teams that made quote generation and order processing more efficient. Christopher also managed the company’s enterprise software systems, including the deployment of new CRM software and the management of its ERP system.

Prior to joining New Leaf Paper, Christopher served as an analyst at Redefining Progress, a non-profit research and policy organization, from 2003 to 2004. While at Redefining Progress, Christopher analyzed the ecological footprint of countries around the world using economic and agricultural data from the UN. He also helped refine the organization’s online footprint calculator for individuals.

Christopher worked for Patagonia from 2001 to 2004, where he gained exposure to socially minded business practices. Toward the end of his tenure at Patagonia, Christopher earned one of Patagonia’s employee environmental internships to do further research at Redefining Progress.

A native of upstate New York, Christopher attended Northwestern University where he conducted molecular biology and astrophysics research, earning him a B.A. in Integrated Science.
