Adam Capage

Vice President, Utility Partnerships

Adam leads 3Degrees’ Utility Partnership Services group, overseeing all of the firm’s utility green power partnerships. In this role, Adam directly advises utilities on their voluntary program strategy, supervises execution of 3Degrees’ Community ConnectSM methodology, and develops new utility voluntary program partnerships.

Adam joined 3 Phases Energy in 2006 and was member of the 3Degrees founding team in 2007. Under his leadership, the firm’s utility partnership business has grown substantially, with 3Degrees’ utility partners’ programs having received the U.S. Department of Energy’s Green Power Program of the Year award four separate times.

As part of his effort to expand the generation and use of green power in the United States, Adam currently serves as Chair of the Green-e Utility Green Pricing Advisory Committee, and works closely with the Renewable Northwest Project to help promote the implementation of environmentally responsible renewable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, and wave energy, in the Northwest.

Adam’s 15-year career in the energy industry has included work in both the public and private sectors. Prior to 3 Phases, Adam worked at E Source, where he consulted with utilities nationally and built a market leading information service for utilities operating green pricing programs. Also at E Source, Adam launched a separate service to help utilities understand emerging carbon emission markets.

Prior to E Source, Adam worked at the Colorado Governor’s Office of Energy Conservation, where he helped staff a Governor’s Task Force on Renewable Energy and then managed implementation of several of the top recommendations.

A native of West Virginia, Adam lived for 25 years in Colorado before moving to Portland in 2006. Adam has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.
